Theme: Time.

Method: Reflection, Representation, Hand-drawn animation, Loop.

Context: Time does not exist independently of perception. Time is an illution that help things make sence. According to Einstein, time is evidently relative because it depends on the speed at which an observer moves in space, so it is considered to be part of a compound called space-time. So, we can easily say that time is a constant flow from the past to the future. The present is that precise moment in time when the past ends and the future begins. With the passing of each moment, the present moment becomes part of the past, and a new moment, which was part of the future, becomes the present. The endless paradox.

Response:

Animation is a medium based on time. It is a dissection of time or a fragmentary exploration where the animator tries to reconstruct his own understanding of reality. The paradox of this action occurs between the observation of the present and the execution of the result, in other words, between what the animator experiences, and what his drawings do. This thought is based on the observation of stop-motion animation, the illusionists, magicians and artists. Without perceiving time itself the puppets seem inert, static and unconscious, until the human interaction wakes them up to share a moment together.

Based on these reflections and after listening a few songs about time the idea of an animated loop was born. A hand-drawn animation which reflects in some way how we usually think time works, a life cycle, which moves so fast that we can't realized, starts and ends in just a blink.

I will continue working on this piece as I had lot of fun playing with it.
