Theme: Play & Self

Context:

First of all, before class, I have been worried about making a complete game, because I haven’t been in touch with game making. Fortunately, the main content of APD is to explore the combination of play and some other themes. Then, the theme of this week is Play & Self. After reading the example that Matt showed us in class, I thought about a question for a long time; that is what kind of person I am. I think a person's portrait can be a kind of cognition of himself or an image he wants to present to others. So this week, I creating an image I want to show myself in an interesting way.

Response:

I first collected all the photos I posted on social platforms, because most of the photos on these platforms are what people want to share, including me. Then, I split the photos into different parts, reorganized the images from different angles on the same face, and adjusted the color and effect of each layer. Next, make a background, cut and splice it to create a sense of irregularity.

Reflection:

The inspiration for this work comes from Henri Matisse's paper-cut works. He creatively combined some shapes, which make me think whether I can combine my photos in a similar way. After finishing this work, I am also thinking about how to make my character image and how to retain my personal characteristics without losing the fun. On the whole, it may not be a perfect work, but there are some defects, but I have learned something from it.
