Animation, games and Interactivity - Studio 1 Related Work Post Week 5

Following is my related work post for this week:

I. THE PRESENT

1. The present is a wonderful work of 3d animation. In terms of the concept, characterisation and the concept. This animated short film has also won multiple awards. It was released in the year, directed by, written by and animated by Jacob Frey. The animated short has won 77 awards in total.

2. The concept of the film is about a young boy. Initially he is shown to be stuck on tv all day playing video games and refusing to go out. Upon noticing this, his mother decided to gift him a puppy one day so that he goes out and plays with him. But the child does not like the idea much, rather he gets irritated by the fact that his mom got him a puppy. The puppy was three legged and could not run or walk like a normal dog but is very cute, chirpy and naughty. The child ignores the puppy for a long time and continues with his games, but eventually develops a liking for him because of the constant playfulness and cheerfulness portrayed by the puppy. The ending shows the child getting up and taking the puppy out. As he does so, we get to see the child is also specially abled and does not have one leg too. The short movie ends on a very beautiful note and leaves the viewer joyful and very happy.

3. The film is short but has a lot of CGI work involved in it. The 3d models of the characters are properly rigged and appear as if they are real. The environment and the setup of the 3d model are also big contributors to the success of this piece and liking by the audience

II. Fortnite (2017)

1. Fortnite was developed in 2017 by Epic Games and is has 3 modes of play: Save the world, battle royale and creative.
2. This game is very similar in concept to PUBG and is a 3d game. This game recently turned out to be very popular worldwide
3. Here is a detailed study on its various modes:

Save the world: Save the world functions on the concept of player-versus-environment. 4 players set out on a common mission and are attacked by husk-like zombies on the way. The have to defend themselves and others on the way to clear the mission and upon clearing the missions, they get special rewards too

Battle Royale: This concept is very similar to PUBG where 100 players carrying no weapons get into the game environment. Here, they have to collect weapons and kill each other and increase the chances of survival for oneself.

Creative: Fortnite creative is open to all and allows the player to do whatever he wants in the game. The player can do challenges, create race courses and so on.

III. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)

1. Call of duty is one among the many famous games played worldwide by youngsters and gamers alike. It was released on October 25, 2019. It was released on various platforms such as Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and windows.
2. The game can be played as a single player or as a multiplayer. The players have to keep defending themelves in the entire course of the game.
3. This game was developed by Infinity Ward. This game uses a more detailed environment, better rendering and volumetric lighting. This game also makes excellent use of ray tracing.
