Week 11
Work in Progress post
What I have been doing this week and why:
This week, I have continued to work on my walking simulator game and I took my models to unity this week. I have been carrying out walking simulator trials in unity and exploring the possibilities through experimentation of what all I can do in this game. I have been documenting my work as I have worked through unity this week. My major focus this week has been on layouts and on learning Unity and experimenting my learnings with my project. I have also researched and finalised my sound tracks this week which I will be putting in my game. This week, I also learnt how I can use sounds in various forms in my game and how I can bring uniqueness to my concept just with sounds. My layout and sound track is final now this week. Also, my simulator is fully functional now and I only have to work with sounds in the simulator which I will be undertaking in week 12.
I have been undertaking the above stated activities because this is one of the essential step of my folio this time. I have been learning and experimenting with a new tool and software, Unity and that takes quite some time to learn and adapt to it. So I have been learning unity on a daily basis and troubleshooting my problems I often face with the software. Sound design and game layout is one of the most important thing of my project, so I have been doing that too. As the aesthetics of my game are one of the major points of focus in my project.
Here is what impact of feedback and research that has happened this week:
Just like other weeks, this week too, I researched about related works which are already existing in the industry. This research gives me inspiration to look at various works which are already present and helps me enhance my own practice. After researching, I made a “Related Works Post” to the MAGI website which can be viewed here:
I also research regularly about various art styles, game arts and 3d models which are made by the people world over. One useful website which I regularly look at is:
This helps me see other’s work and find inspiration for my own practice in the field.
Researching regularly is one of the key elements that helps me enhance and explore my own work. One research this week on the Unity website inspired me to add special sounds in my game too. I have been working on those special sounds too.
I also received feedback from my peers and mentors this week regarding the layout and soundtrack. I was guided by my mentors to pursue sounds deeply for this game and I have been doing that and I have realised now that sound plays one of the major role in any game or in any animation.
What I will be doing over the next week:
Start: Next week, I will start with the integration of sounds in my project. I will be working next week and dedicating that week towards the sound design of my project. Also, I plan to take renders next week in week 12 so that I can dedicate week 13 towards preparing for my presentations and compilation of my projects and also submissions.
Stop: Next week, I will stop working on the model and layout as I feel the layout and model is complete by now.
Continue: Next week too, I plan to continue the process of research and feedback as getting feedback from my peers and mentors has been one of the most important things in this folio. Research and feedback are also one of the most essential components of any project.
The documentation of work I did this week has been included in the PDF's attached to this post.
