*Change in Folio Plan*
I had planned doing an animated short movie for folio 1, as uploaded earlier. But a discussion session with our mentors as given me a broader viewpoint and has given me some great ideas which are helping me point in the right work direction. So here is my new folio plan for folio 1 submission.
RATIONALE: INTENTION
For folio 1, I am trying to experiment with my existing knowledge and giving it a new edge and trying to take it a notch higher. I am planning to create some samples of game environements and i am going to experiment with them through various lighting and texture set ups. The theme of the game environment is Sci-fi. I will be submitting various renders by visualising the theme and providing an innovative new edge. Furthermore, I will pick one from my own set of environments to work upon and i will be taking it to Unity and working upon it to provide a sample.
CONTEXT : FIELD
My field of work sits mainly in the game industry and specifically game environemnt designer is my career target.
There are many people in the world currently pursuing my field. Game environment design sets the entire mood and look of the game. Many famous game companies include Nintendo, Rockstar Games, Sony Computer Entertainment and many more.
METHOD : CONCEPTUAL, TECHNICAL, CRAFT AND MANAGEMENT
The work i create for the studio folio 1 will help me shape my portfolio because i want to learn and become a game environement designer. This is benefitial as thinking creatively as a game designer will help me focus towards my future career.
From the software point of view, I will be able to learn new softwares such as Unity which are essential towards game building. Using Substance Painter alongside arnold materials will help me expand my palette of materials.
PRODUCTION : TOOLS
I am planning to execute my folio submission plan with various softwares.
Enivronment creation : Maya
Lighting an texturing : Substance Painter and Maya
Flat Renders : Arnold
Game : Unity
