This is an interactive narrative + linear work by flow chart for the visual novel game that I’m working on.
There is a girl gone missing in town. The police starts investigating the case. The town starts gossiping about the girl. The player plays as a friend of the missing girl.
The story is being told backwards. The player then starts tracing back his memories where he encountered and interacted with the missing girl.
If the player build up trust and had a good relationship with the girl (providing support in conversations and interactions…etc), then he may puzzle together the clues which revels the fact that the girl is a victim of human trafficking.
The girl was adopted by a wealthy family in town from some orphanage in a foreign country. She’s usually quiet and low key at school. By making a choice, the player saves her from a food fight in cafeteria, where they start to interact. By doing activities and having conversations, the player will notice “something different” about her, such as suspicious bruises on her and long hours part time jobs on the weekends. These pieces of facts hen become clues up to the point when the girl gone missing.
If the player had gain enough knowledge and good relationship with the girl, the girl will be successfully saved along with other victims.
If the player neglected her hints and opportunities of interactions, he would not gain her trust nor having enough clues for the rescue. Thus the girl will not be saved and her missing case remains as a mystery.
