Animated Narratives - Week7 - Storyboards

Week7 we learned sound script. So, I drew a storyboard based on a little funny story of a father and child going fishing together. And the most important part is that I edited the sound script based on Dora Smith's SUGGESTED SCRIPT LAYOUT.

Because this time is mainly for script layout exercises. So first I drew the storyboard to provide a basis for the story to have a picture and then wrote the script layout based on the original storyline and Dora Smith's SUGGESTED SCRIPT LAYOUT. I found that script layout is a very useful tool, it can quickly animate the actual performance of the current script (Smith, 2000). In general, SCRIPT LAYOUT can record more accurate script ideas when people design. So, it can make animation film and television production more convenient and faster.

Hades is a rogue-like game with character-driven storytelling. The player plays a prince of the underworld in Greek mythology, and every time the player travels through the dungeon, he can promote the development of the plot. I chose him as related work because, on the one hand, Hades has an excellent dialogue design. Specifically, the improvement and interaction between players and the Greek gods are very interesting. On the other hand, the way hades shows the dialogue to promote the plot can also very positively guide the player to continue playing. (Steam, 2020) These very excellent designs have won a lot of praise from the media and players. I hope that learning such dialogue design can bring positive feedback to my work and make the audience interested in continuing to experience my work. I thought I could also add some diegetic background sounds like bird calls. This can better reflect their environment in the wild, and tell the audience through sound that they are about to go fishing.
