This work examines of Dialogue and Sound. In the class, we watched several references demonstrating what and how the dialogue is being said. Much can be told from dialogue, not only range dialogue but also depth-character information, and hierarchy of knowledge. Combined with action, and other factors, we can tell the subtext beneath the words.
I am using the precise :
‘A cloud is hugging another cloud," Fluffy, I can reach your fluffy love in your tender heart" he whispers to his partner.’
The story is about clouds who are social animals. They gather to survive, to be involved, and they use their arms bounding themselves. The protagonist loves to hug other clouds for searching companionship and building connections. However, if they get too close, they rain and fall apart. The protagonist starts to be afraid of love until he meets someone who teach him how to love others without draining his own.
This story is going to sit in the field of 3D animation. I'm looking forward to developing clouds in 3D characters, giving a clay-looking material. From the dialogues between these similar characters, the viewer can tell their personality varied. The way they talked to each other with the hugging action showed they have sensitive, friendly and timid personalities.
This work is related to the week 6 watching resource " Martin Scorsese - The Art of Silence ". The film shows the importance of silence. In the cut that the cloud losing his companion in my work uses this kind of technique. The climax of the work is when the cloud faces the loss of all his friend which is in silence, followed by the most dialogue in the entire play, providing a dramatic contrasting display for the audience.
By examining " Martin Scorsese - The Art of Silence " , I reflected that dialogues not only can portrait the plots, but also provide more information of the characters and the subtext, which can be used in my 3D animation project. By observing the dialogue between the two main characters in my work, the viewer is reminded that they met in childhood and has a sense of identification with their inner values.
