Character: A man
Place: A bed filled with glue
What he wanted to do: Get rid of the bed
What was finally achieved: free from the bed / not free from the bed.

Story: The sun rose, and it shone into the room. The alarm clock rang, and a man slowly opened his eyes. He had to go to work. He tried to sit up. Suddenly, he realized that his bed was filled with glue, and he couldn't move. He struggled to get up but found himself sinking deeper and deeper. Then, he heard his boss's voice in a trance: "You can't even do such a little work. If you keep going on like this, you'll be fired." Then he heard his girlfriend's voice: "You do not have time for me. I want to break up with you." After that, much gossip occupied his mind, and he felt he couldn't breathe. Just then, the alarm clock rang again. He struggled to get up. He got rid of the control and finally opened his eyes. Everything happened just in a dream, but in reality, a lot of work and boring social contact was still waiting for him.

For this week's theme Shaping stories, I came up with the idea of "a bed full of glue," and I developed a story based on this premise, which was mainly to express the pressure of work, social life, and people's depression. I mainly want to show fear as glue to represent the pressure on people abstractly.

A similar work created by Amy J. Xu, the "Melt Down, (https://vimeo.com/284763863) this animation showed that anxiety would turn people into liquid, which uses an abstract form to deliver the characters' emotions directly.

In the development process, I made a mind map and found that the idea of glue could be extensively used on any object, not only the bed but also the person covered with glue or glue is on the door handle. It could also be developed into a different story. The mind map broadened my thinking and helped me create stories faster.
