The character. - A dolphin

What do they want? - Observe humans as pets

What's in the way? - Humans are always excited, make loud noises and love to show off their “bad toys” that make glitter. (smartphone)

How is the goal achieved/not achieved? - Try to make gentle sounds to soothe people and pick up beautiful stones to give to people as "good toys“

How does the concept resolves? - The humans seem to be happier and make more noise. But they put away their "bad toys" to touch the dolphin, which made the dolphin proud of that

story:A dolphin lives near the sea. Watching the people appear on the shore is what he is most interested in. The dolphin treats them like his pets. But one day, these "pets" would pull out a shiny rectangular box and aim it at him. The dolphin is angry and confused. One day, a girl visiting him accidentally dropped the glitter box into the water. Dolphin dives into the water, sees the box flashes then turns black. The dolphin looks at the box with disdain. He picks up a stone and swims over to the girl, who looks confused as the others laugh and put down their "bad toys". The dolphin is very proud that he has found suitable toys for his "pets".

This week, I wrote a story about a non-human protagonist by researching characters, places, and motivations. Humans taking pictures of the dolphin misconstrued him as humans focusing on playing with their toys and being disgusted by him, so he gives them his toy. The animal character can think but is not from the human's perspective. Therefore, it is important for the audience to understand his motivation from his perspective. The scene switching and transition play an important role. If the audience can not understand the motivation of the dolphin in the story but take the human's perspective, it may be confused or difficult to accept the ending.
The 3D animation《Oktapodi》(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=badHUNl2HXU) also emphasizes character motivation. The octopus can't speak but their intentions can be seen in the camera cuts and character movements, allowing the audience to think about the direction of the story from the perspective of the octopus.
Through this week's work, I thought about how to show the motivation of the characters by camera and action, and make the story easy to understand. This is very important for pantomime or non-speaking characters.
