The theme of week11 is Light. We learnt that the light can be used to enhanced atmosphere rendering, including characters and scenes. And it can be broadly divided into three categories which are Natural Light, Artificial Light, and Modified Light.

This work examines idea of  light. I am using the following precises, "A lightning strikes and reveal the scene in few seconds. Players have to seize the time and explore the scene" and another precise-- " On land, people sat around campfires, and predators in the dark were terrified of the light." by Keyu Zhao.

The work is going to sit in the field of 3rd character game. The plot is about people who survived from shipwreck sit around campfires on an island, they tell stories to ease their tension. When they are telling story, the object (or monster) mentioned in their stories will show up from the surrounding darkness in a crooked way, and they crawl closer and closer to people gathering around the fire. The fire is always flickering on and off. The player is one of the survivors, he or she must stop his or her companion from saying something horrible in case there are more monsters generated, and the player interrupts them by clicking on the companions. They tell stories when the campfire is bright , as the campfire will hold the monster's position, and click on the campfire when it is dark to keep it burning to deter approaching monsters.

This work is related to the week 11 watching resources, the short Video Essay by Kagonda places Director Terrance Malik. In the film it shows uses of fire and water into contrast with each other. In addition to the image of water, fire itself has shown a strong sense of mystery, vitality and danger, so it is a great material to depict a horror and jeopardy scenario.

By examining the short Video Essay by Kagonda places Director Terrance Malik , I reflected that light can be use in almost every visual developments, and it is definitely a important role for my game. By utilizing different kinds of direct light, reflected light and filtered lights such as fire, smoke ,and lights in monsters eyes, I am able to take my game to another level.
