This week, we response to the theme of movement.
By using mind map, I explored the possibility and potential of my story. I did a brainstorming and listed all the possibilities I could think of, and finally selected a few with the most potential and the most interesting.
By exploring the role of movement in animation, I learn about the importance of movement of characters, and I reflected that my work needs to be improve. Prior to this, my work mainly focused on displaying static images. But now, considering that movement will enable the audience to understand the development of the story better, I iterated my work, and some character actions will be added. For example, in the second part of the animation, my original intention was to quickly show the key scenes when showing the baseball flying into outer space. Now, the movement of baseball and player will is added, for example, baseball flying out of the stadium, flying out of the earth, rocket launching, etc.
Moreover, I want to make a ridiculous and nonsensical animation. I think I can add some elements to further reflect the nonsensical of the work. Such as add some things that seem to be irrelevant to the scene but still have some connection. For example, when player lands on a strange planet, he will say that famous saying “one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”. At the same time, aliens who are puzzled and curious about "outsiders" will also appear in the picture.
By drawing a storyboard, I designed the movement of characters. In addition, the third part of the story will go to the magic world. However, due to the huge workload, I am not sure whether this part will be shown. In order to reduce the workload, I plan to use stop motion animation to quickly explain this part by showing several key frames.
A similar work is animation Rick and Morty, which is full of irony to today's society and all kinds of crazy and absurd adventures. It helps me reflect on what a good story needs to have:behind the grotesque stories are reflections on human nature and society.
