REFLECTION

In this work, I explore references of inspiration, environment and characters.

By using this mood board, I am able to show my intended form of animation is similar to ThunderCluck which applies the form of the pop-up book with crumpled sheets’ quality. The story happens in a tropical village. Although I completed the character design of the protagonist, Vien during my study of studio one, I want to change it to a simpler aesthetic but keep the original characteristics. The three images on the right indicate that Vien is bullied by others and the hope is tiny, which bury a seed of her revenge. The other main character in my animation is a witch, I reference the witch from Snow White because both of them are playing negative roles. The reference of The Starry Night is because I want to create an unrealistic feeling in the end when Vien is pulled into a dream. Mood boards help us to express ideas and convey a general sense by showing a collection of images freely. I consider it as a good way during the preparation working process for animation.

This work is similar to the work of Kat(https://kcdd78501wordpress.wordpress.com/2019/02/26/animation-mood-board/), whose mood boards show different styles that he wants to achieve in his animation.

In this week’s class, we learnt concepts of movement. In my animation, I will keep the camera position fixed and only realize the movements of objects like a pop-up book. Besides, I found it’s not easy to research. As I already had a sense of style that I want to achieve, but sometimes it just takes a long time to find a similar one online. However, I could find something out of my expectations but still suitable for my anime while browsing.
