Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

This week I try to explore the theme of Time.

For the use of time in my works, I thought of many ways, such as slow motion, time stop, etc. Since there is some tense chase plots in my work, I need to pay special attention to the tightness and smoothness of the camera rhythm.

The story is divided into four parts. At the beginning of the story, it takes place in a baseball game, and the main characters are the players and the baseball. After the baseball was blown, it flew higher and higher, flying into outer space.

The second part of the story takes place in the universe. In order to catch the baseball, the player also came to outer space. He became an astronaut, took a rocket to Mars, and took a "big step for mankind". In this part, the narrative rhythm will be accelerated. I want to experiment with fast-paced editing, that is, a quick display of some key shots.

In the third part, the baseball enters the magical world through the wormhole. The baseball becomes a golden snitch, and the player becomes a wizard riding a flying broom. They shuttled around Hogwarts. I will try to slow down the player's movement speed to compare the fast speed of the Golden Snitch.

There will be an open ending. Eventually they returned to the stadium by teleporting magic. The baseball fell from the sky, and the player rushed towards the baseball. In order to reflect the tension at this moment, I think slow motion is necessary. The slow-falling shot of the baseball with heavy breathing and slight tinnitus will effectively express the tiredness of the players and the tension of the game. Finally, by using a black screen and accompanied by the audience's exclamation as the ending, leaving room for the audience to imagine.

I want to pay tribute to many works and things through this assignment. For example, I paid tribute to Harry Potter, and Amherst dam’s famous saying "A small step for me, a big step for mankind". Similarly, Tom and Jerry also gave me great inspiration. The work's control of the camera's rhythm and the shaping of the character's personality are worthy of my in-depth study.
