Story

A mosquito was a famous musician in his village. He believed that his music could be worldwide, so he decided to leave his homeland and disseminate his incredible music to the world.

One day, he saw a man who was sleeping. " My first audience here." the mosquito thought. So he played his trumpet in the man's ear. The man woke up by the annoying sound and felt angry. So, as expected, the mosquito heard the sound of clapping, "Sure enough, my music is wonderful," the mosquito thought. So the mosquito played louder around the man, And he was delighted that he heard more and more applause. But suddenly, the mosquito felt a wind blowing towards him and heard a booming sound; then he lost consciousness. So without the bother of the mosquito, the man finally had a good night's sleep.

Reflection

This week's theme is sound, and one of my premises was "a musician mosquito sang by the side of the people's ears." I expanded the idea base on this premise. I represent the mosquito's sound in the story as he plays a musical instrument. From the different perspectives of the two characters, the different voices they hear lead to the conflict in the story. This story mainly expresses that not to impose your ideas on others. At the same time, I drew a storyboard and a rough thumbnail to show the art style. Overall, this story can provide a lot of dramatic effects and exaggerated dynamics if it is developed into an animation.

Similar work is "Day and Night"(2010), created by Pixar<https://youtu.be/dJz_noKP-Bw>. This animation use sound to support the storytelling ingeniously and perfectly portrays the different personalities and characteristics of the day and night characters with natural sounds.

This week's story made me know more about the sound design of animation. In addition, Kate suggested that the clapping sound could be represented as applause, which helped me reinforce the central idea of looking at things from a different perspective.
