This work examines the idea of sound in interactivity.
By drawing a mindmap, I am able to show a possible concept for a horror game inspired by the wiki ‘What if a people jump into a space with no light, they cannot see anything, but can hear the sound around them.’ This interactive game will require players to locate positions by distinguishing which angle sounds like monster breathing or ghost whispers come from in the darkness. And they are provided with a walking stick to help them measure the size of obstacles in front of them or measure the distance between them and objects. Or even use the stick to hit the ground, then estimate the space crowdedness according to the echo. Players need to avoid being attacked by monsters.
This work is similar to a game suggested by Monique. It’s a horror game called Slender designed by Mark J. Hadley, the game is almost all in darkness, and the sounds is very obvious in the background.
It was challenging to come up with ideas when our group saw this wiki. But after our brainstorm, we decided to make it an interactive horror game, which made it easier to imagine. It was surprising that I came up with ideas about using a walking stick. Although I consider this game to be promising, I still decide not to choose this as my folio 2 work. Because It is beyond my present abilities and maybe not achievable for a single person in half of a semester, I will keep this idea and maybe try to realize it one day when I can.
