This work examines ideas of Structures for Storytelling。 By writing three bullet points, we create the premise of the story, that is, the problem, the actions / events that result from the problem and the end Then we need to expand these three bullet points to complete our story.
This week, my team chose a Wiki:
• A bird hates her reflection on the window
• The bird keeps trying different things to beautify herself/ look better
• The bird and the reflection swap- the bird is trapped in the window while her reflection is free
By thinking about the image of the bird itself, we can think about why it doesn't like its reflection. We imagined it to be ugly or beautiful. And thought about why it wanted to decorate itself. We think it must be because the reflection is not good enough, it wants to dress it up. We also imagine that it becomes obsessed with its own reflection. Using three bullet points to think about the structure of the story will be easier and pay more attention to the details of the story.
This is the first version of the story in the group:
My inspiration comes from Coraline & the secret door, a thriller stop motion animation produced in 2009, adapted from Neil geiman's novella of the same name. The film premiered in the United States on February 6, 2009. The film mainly tells that Caroline is a curious girl. She found a mysterious door in her new home. Through that door, she entered a world parallel to reality. Witch as like as two peas in the real world, the world is almost identical to reality, but everything is a conspiracy of witches. The story also uses the world in another mirror to create a world completely in line with the girl's heart, an amiable father and mother. If a girl is confused, she will be trapped there forever.
This reminds me that my story can also add such a magical conspiracy in the iteration. Another perfect reflection may just want freedom, and the bird wants beauty and loses itself for beautiful appearance. I changed the setting of this bird again and changed it from colorful to dark. I think it's easier for people to feel that the charm of appearance changes is so irresistible.
This is my final story:
A black bird landed on a delicate old windowsill by coincidence. The glass of the window is uneven, with strange shapes and strange colors.
In front of this strange old window, birds jump and observe the glass. It tilted its head in doubt and looked at its reflection in the glass. The bird in the glass is gray and looks very sad. It is difficult to believe that it is itself and refuses to believe that it is itself. It flew away.
But the next day, it still flew back to observe itself in the glass. It seemed to be testing, picking up a stone and throwing it down. It seems to be trying to convince itself that it is not itself.
On the third day, it came here again. It was wearing a flower. Today, it believes that the bird in the glass is itself, because it always keeps pace with itself.
On the fourth day, it still came. It seemed that it hoped to see a miracle, a fact that it was very beautiful. However, today seems to be a little different. Although the feathers of birds in the glass are still black, they emit strange light. It was attracted by the light, and the feather reflected colorful light. In the evening, it left reluctantly.
On the fifth day, it looked haggard. It turns out that it has insomnia because it never forgets the beautiful self in the glass. It flew to the window and looked at itself in the glass. It was surprised to find that it became more beautiful in the glass. Its feathers radiated colorful light, smooth and distinct. Even its black tail has become the color of the sun. This is so beautiful! It sighed.
From then on, it just wants to be more beautiful. It goes to that window every day to see its beautiful self. It picked up beautiful flowers, beautiful pearls and gemstones from every place, pasted them on the window and decorated itself in the glass. I have to say that it looks so beautiful. Its beautiful feathers shine in the sun with the light of gemstones.
It insisted on coming here every day, but it looked weaker and weaker day by day. It is infatuated with itself in the glass, and even falls in love with the illusory itself. It firmly believes that no bird in the world can be more beautiful than it in the glass. Just like the Narcissism in Greek mythology, it is out of control. It begged in front of the glass, hoping to become itself in the glass.
Suddenly, it could no longer hear birds, wind, and noisy human voices. It was gray all around. It walked towards the light, where there was a bird. It's the ugly one! It flew in surprise, but hit an invisible wall. The ugly bird, itself, looked at it with its head tilted and flew away.
