In catching up on my animated narratives posts, I chose a premise from the premise wiki that I felt would challenge me: I picked 'a snake is afraid to bite.'
What is challenging for me about this premise is anthropomorphising creatures. I started by doing studies of photos of snakes. I also asked for help from my family by asking them to make a 'scared face' so I could cartoonise the expression.
Then, I did some studies of animated snakes: Sir Hiss from the 1973 Disney film 'Robin Hood' and Sahara from 2017's 'Sahara.'
This led me to drawing up the sequencing shots to an eventual animatic of a snake that is scared, then tries to bite, and recoils in fear.
