This week’s class is mainly about giving a character a needs and see what might happen. I and my group mates choose the one ‘a butterfly wants to date a spider.’ We found out that this could be a really interesting idea with a lot of potentials to work with. First, we change the timeline a bit, make it ‘a caterpillar wants to date a spider’, because both of them can make a net and the caterpillar wants to learn how to make a net like that spider, that’s how they start a relationship. As they grow up, they make other friends and know more about themselves, but they start to realize this is not right because of both outside and inside factors, for example, the caterpillar cannot make a net like a spider, and spider’s friends keep telling him this is not right. They figure out a solution to be with each other as the butterfly uses to cocoon on the web to sit next to the spider which makes them even more confident to be together. The obstacle is that the spider’s friends are even more dissatisfied and want to eat the butterfly. The revolution is that they decide to go away, so the butterfly catches the spider and flies away into the sunset. I draw several scenes to show those important turning points of this story.
