Story: A soft blanket loves hugging humans. He will warm the people who feel unwell, cover people without umbrellas on rainy days, or give stray kittens a place to rest in winter. One day, Little banket saw a thief stealing a lady's handbag: "How could there be such a bad human? I should help her". So he flew toward the thief and held him hard. The thief fell to the ground and could not move. The police hurried to come over and catch the thief. Since then, the little blanket has become the local hero. Every time he helps people, they will give him a big hug to return.
The theme this week is External Manifestation of the Internal State. One of the ideas I had was "a blanket that loves to hug humans," which was the premise to make the story and storyboard. A blanket is a soft thing that can bring warmth to humans, so I shaped the blanket into a character who is willing to help the weak. Through the story, I want to tell people that we should be brave to love and hug beautiful things. But we also need the ability to distinguish right and wrong.
Yulya Aronova directed a similar work called "My Mum is an Airplane." (https://vimeo.com/70678953) With cheerful music and a lovely picture style. This animation tells that A boy's mother is an airplane, and she flies to help people around the world. The story is full of unrestrained imagination.
In class, Kate raised the question of whether the blanket would hug criminals or murders, which brought me to deep reflection. Therefore, I developed this point into a part of the story. Although the blanket hugs the thief at the end of the story, his motivation is not the same as he hugs kind people. Through the change, the story delivered a stronger character's personality.
