For week 2 we were working on ways of developing concepts for animation. I was thinking about several ideas:
What if we have more than 24 hours every day?
What if people can do photosynthesis to live?
What if the sea water does not contain any salt?
Then I would like to pick up the topic “What if people can do photosynthesis to live?” as a potential idea for further development and made a mind map for it.
Around this topic, I thought about the difference between an imagination of photosynthesis and people’s real life. Because all the energy which is needed for keep life will be earned directly from the sun, people will only need to drink water and probably eat food only for enjoying. People must go outside regularly to earn energy from the sun. Which part of body is doing photosynthesis would be the most interesting question. In my imagination, hair will be used for human to do photosynthesis and people would like to keep their hair long to get energy more effective.
A similar idea is animation “Descendant” which directed by Heiko van der Scherm. The animation is about a young flower that is taken under the leave of an older flower. The plants in the animation are having human’s feature and doing actions like human that provided me lots of inspiration.
The idea was coming from observation on plants. To work on this topic, I was thinking about the reasons of human’s behaviours in daily life and learnt how an environment can affect people’s life.
