Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

This week, I explore the theme of light.

Through the mind map, I explored various ways of using lights. After that, I used bullet points to supplement the details and ideas of the work.

In the previous few weeks, I had a preliminary idea of the ending and made an animation. However, through reflections on the lighting in my work, I think there are some parts that need to be improved. The original animation is: the surrounding darkens, only the baseball gets bigger and brighter. On this basis, I plan to add the sun as the end of the animation, thus metaphorically that baseball is as important to golfers as the sun is to the earth.

In addition, I iterated the middle part of the animation. In this part, baseball enters the magical world, but I have another more interesting idea: tell the story by showing the shadow of characters. I think this is more interesting and imaginative than showing the picture directly to the audience. Since the fuzzy shadows will make audience imagine how they look like unconsciously. Rather than let the audience passively experience the wonders of the magical world, it is better to give them the power to imagine their own magic world.

For the transition of animation, I also had a new inspiration: the transition of two scenes can use light and shadow transformation. For example, when changing from a rocket launch scene to a space scene. The white light emitted by the rocket gradually dimmed to black, after which the stars flashed and the outer space scene appeared.

Also, I designed the animation into a dynamic comic style. The effect I want is: It's like reading a real comic, but through the imagination of reader, the originally static characters "live". The lens will simulate reader's vision to move between images. I think this will be a unique and novel visual style, and more importantly, it will greatly reduce my workload without affecting the quality of the work.

Similar works made by a youtuber named madagaga. He made a second creation of the classic comic One Punch Man, adding some dynamic special effects to the static images, allowing the characters in the comics to perform simple actions, such as walking, or pushing and pulling the camera.
