In response to week 1 of Animated Narrative’s document, I want to explore the importance of character background. In every story, there will always be a character and it is very important as a storyteller to recognise and understand the characters we create.
Personally, I sometimes create stories from the characters I made. Reworking the story around the character’s intention like their wants and needs or sometimes through their personality. Character background helps us enhance our creativity whenever we are experience writer’s block, we can always go back to our character and rethink of their intention, wants, and needs.
Sometimes creating little things like their hobbies, interests, and habits can also help us more in terms of screenwriting. In other words, the more me understand and recognise our character, the more we understand and recognise the stories that we wanna tell to the audiences. If we understand what our character is going through, we will understand the structure of the story.
