In this week's class, we discussed what is story and the power of animation. We also did a practice, which is about how to develop a story from a premise.
This work is examined the idea of creating a story based on a premise. I re-do the practice again, the premise I used is ‘there is a man who has a passion for cooking, and he finally becomes a laudable chef.’ Based on this premise, I extended it to an animation story.
As personally, I interpreted the main meaning of the premise as perseverance. The main idea of the story is about the journey of a dwarf overcoming the problem to go to the kitchen to taste a broth. Considering some of the character motion has a bit exaggerative through his adventure, so I think using animation as the medium to express the story will be a good way and the flexibility of animation also allows me to imagine and create the story as much as possible during the scriptwriting.
I got the story inspiration from Ratatouille (2007), Arrietty (2010).
