For Week 2 weekly folio, it asked to do a mind map around a point to various developing story ways. Based on that, I started from the idea “the relationship between each other in different distance” and develop this idea mainly in four types of storyboards.
1: Focus on isolation distance, link with real life → COVID-19 (people need to stay at home either go out with 1.5m-2.m distance between each other)
→ What people gonna do during self-isolation
Prefer One → How about there is not enough places or spaces for people to self-isolation (population explosion)
2: Focus on the definition of distances, which can be understand to life & death. →Death of a loved one (It could be a family member, a friend or partner. etc) / antonym: New Born. →Funeral →Cemetery
→How about you can meet the died people again?
Prefer One →How about everyone find they can not die from one day?
3: Focus on real life experiences → Actual distance from my hometown to Australia (8000km) →How about the distance can be compressed?
4:Focus on short story → A couple who meets online and first time decide to see each other.
→ Satisfy with each other.
→ unsatisfied with each other.
And in those kind of four stories, I mainly prefer to explore the second one to deeply consider about the life meaning, it may be a little abstract. There are many fantasies about death and life such as Hades in the ancient Greek religion and myth, the after life and Anoup in ancient Egypt religion. Also the underworld in China. People have different attitudes towards life and death, base on that, what will happen if everyone knows they are immortal? What will happen if people keep growing and being older as the time goes but they will never die?
It could be a story in the foundation of those ideas, and to link with the origin idea: distances.
