Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

A girl feels down after suffering a setback but becomes full of courage and strength again after the face of an important person appears in her mind.

This week I explored ‘what is story’, how to tell a good story,  the difference between animation and live action film.

This work transforms metaphors, intuitive feelings and imagination into actual scene to enhance visual impact and resonate with the audience, this strategy is often used to externalize the inner world of the characters and convey the thoughts and feelings of the characters more intuitively. It works in animation production which is more nature than using in live action film because there is a gap between the animation itself and reality(but there are also some stylized live action films that use this style to tell stories). It is undeniable that animation is not as immersed as live action film, but it can also use other strategies to create dreams.

The strategy of this work is similar to the content of the speech by Jane Hirshfield on TEDEd , she enhance the importance of the metaphysical language, which accurately describes the function of metaphor in literary and artistic creation.

By examining Metaphor and Art-A short definition of visual metaphor by Mark Staff Brandl (https://www.metaphorandart.com), I reflected that metaphor appears in any field, there are cognitive metaphor, verbal metaphor and visual metaphor, etc, it leads me to try to think in various forms of expression to create and finally apply them to my work.
