This week's theme is about 'three-part stories'
My story was 'A child who was afraid of ghosts saw them and laughed. After the class, I saw a lot of interesting examples.

The first paragraph
The girl was a very scared of ghosts and today a new fun haunted house was opened in the amusement park. Her brother who was with her said he wanted to go with her. After walking to the entrance, the little girl whispered to the aunt at the ticket counter "Can you make the ghosts inside not so scary I'm scared"
Second paragraph
They were walking cautiously when suddenly a ghost appeared in front of them and the girl was frightened and hid behind her brother.
The ghost said softly 'Little friend, can I start scaring you now'. The child said weakly 'Yes, you can'. The ghost then began to scare the girl in a very interesting way. The child found it very interesting and even asked to do it again.
Third paragraph
They finally leave the haunted house with smiles on their faces and the ghost says weakly, "Even if I die, I'll still entertain the children".

In the story, it doesn't matter whether the ghost is real or not, the children's emotions change and drive the story forward. The ghost's confession at the end brings the story to its final climax.

"How to make a sad story funny" is a talk by Jodie Houlston-Laur, in which she discusses how it may seem counterintuitive, but comedy is often key to a serious story. I was inspired by the fact that a great story often needs the right amount of comedy. The right timing and contrast are crucial.

Throughout the week I have learnt how to build a story with layers, and that the right timing and contrast are essential ingredients to drive the climax of a story. I will be doing more exercises in my free time to ensure that I can create a complete and interesting story smoothly.
