For the first week of Folio #2 (Week 7), I decided to go back to the drawing board and came up with part game concept that I might do during Studio 2. I have created a mind-map for this week with ideas on how the game might look and play like.
This concept can be played out in a linear animation form, but I am leaning more towards the interactive side to tell the story. The reason that I believe that an interactive medium is the best way to go for this concept is because of the possibility that the users will have to interact with the characters, environments and AI. However, I am planning to use a highly narrative background to setup the game.
For the genre of the game, I was looking more towards the Metroidvania 2D platformer theme. Similar work on this genre can be seen in games like Ori and the Blind Forest and Hollow Knight. Both games are 2D side scrolling game with amazing artwork, which can stand on their own.
By creating mind-map, I was able to take time and write down everything that I might want in the game. I can play around with different ideas from this map and see what works and what doesn’t, when coming up with a final game concept.
