Story:

There is a planet with no sun, which is dark and cold all the time and separated into two layers: Underground and Upperground. Humans have to live Underground with glowing plants to escape the wild animal. However, one day, An elder in the village had been sick. The only way to cure the illness is by going to the top mountain on the Upperground to find a flower, which can be the medicine. So the grandson of the elder decided to take this risk. As the Upperground is far away and dangerous, the boy brings his special light, which can scare the monster and guide him. After a long journey and escape from the beast, finally, the boy arrived at the top of the mountain. He saw the flower, which sent out light and warmth. So the boy takes a little nectar and goes back to the Underground, and his grandpa finally gets well.

Reflection

This week I chose the theme of "Light" as my premise: "A planet without light is full of dangerous beasts. To escape the danger on the ground, humans have to build the village next to the glowing plants and live Underground." First, I created a simple character design for the story. I designed a light that was held in the boy's hand can expel his fear of the dark world. Next, I also drew a style frame, which expresses the story's final scene, where the boy finds a flower on the top of the mountain at the end. Here I want to represent the flower's light as the hope of healing the boy's grandfather.

Similar work is a game called " Sky: Children of the Light" created by "Thatgamecompany". This game has a gorgeous art style. In one of the levels, the player needs to enter a dark place, dodge the dragon's attack and save his friend's soul. The final game scene will turn into a warm light representing friends, life and hope.

By doing this premise, I understand the importance of using light to show the atmosphere of animation and game. Using the contrast of cool and warm tones in the picture can more easily guide the audience's attention and highlight the key points in the plot.
