This week we talk about light and how light projects the atmosphere of a place. I did several story thumbnails of how the lighting of the space would look different according to the light source, which would be the sun and the lamp.
By sketching and shading the scene, I would like to create depth within the 2D world. Lighting is used mostly to fabricate the illusion of depth and size in a platonic world. We as creators are trying to convince the viewer of something that isn’t there (John 2020). Spring(2019), a CGI animated short film is a great example. It uses natural lighting in a subtle way to show the change of emotions and atmosphere. It makes use of darkness as a bridge for the user to feel as if something bad is coming. Through this, I figure that I would make use of the sunlight in the animation as the main lighting in the scene. As time passes forward, the different exposure would create different light reflection to the other objects within the scene, which then would bring a different atmospheric feel to the same scene.
