Premise: 🌚” Please, don’t look at me!” The moon touched the scars on its face and said in the shadow of the Earth. Yet it blocked another approaching asteroid for the Earth. People on the Earth shouted at the moon, and the moon turned around and saw how people gathered around and stared at its beauty happily every night..🌝
This story examined the theme concept of dialogue. By expressing the inner thoughts of the moon, I am able to reveal the insecurity and lack of confidence of the character in a very direct way. I am imagining this animation piece as a monologue of the moon, to tell the story of how its a process to regain its confidence and self-worth.
A similar work is Wreck-it Ralph, produced by Walt Disney Animation Studio. The feature started with a monologue of Ralph introducing himself which is a very great reference to how to start a story as if telling a story by the character itself.
My original intention is that humans send a giant telescope to the moon so it could observe them. Through the feedback from Susan, she suggested it could have other revolves. So I adjusted the story that people shout from the earth so that the moon turns around and discovered its value.
Wreck-it Ralph . 2012. [DVD] Directed by R. Moore. United States: Walt Disney Pictures.
