For studio 1, I'll be working on a horror game which I’ve been thinking for a while. The goal of this semester is not to create the game from start to finish. Instead, I'll focus on experimenting/ learning some technics and softwares which are required for building a game.
The story would be about a character who is stuck in a submarine in the bottom of the ocean. For the first 5 weeks, I’ll be looking through different technics from movies and games including lightning ,tension building and character designing... etc. The whole project would focus on understanding and creating some basic elements around the game.
Some relevant works I’ll be looking into in week 3 are Hitchcock’s film, since he’s a master of tension building. I also think games like SOMA and Deadspace are good examples for scaring people in games.
The tools I’ll be using are Adobe Photoshop, MAYA and UE4. I’ll use Adobe Premiere to do the editing if necessary.
