Colosal problem gone!
As the last iteration of this project broke when the uap plugin was introduced, I decided to build a fresh new scene for the 'main menu'. This was in the effort that no legacy bugs and errors could arise in the scene.
Main Menu Panel transistions to the Volume Panel, Volume Panel back to the Main Menu Panel, Main Menu Panel to the Settings Panel and the Settings Panel back to the Main Menu Panel.
Prior to this successful communication between menu panels, the Settings Panel was not working correctly. The OnClick (GameObject.SetActive(False)) function refused to work as it should. It took ~a week for me to go through each button, panel and online forums to then rely on 'Trial and Error' to find what was wrong.
The OnClick (GameObject.SetActive(False)) function in Unity, has been known to be 'faulty' and 'temperamental' according to some of the forums. This lead to the discovery of the 'settings' button on the main menu page to be the cause of drama, which has now been fixed.
