For the past 3 weeks, I’ve been working on getting everything ready for the final rig. Week 6 and 7 were mostly spent on getting the model finalized and ready to be textured. I was working on ZBrush to update and finish the final mesh for the model. Most of the updates were done to the hands and the face, with minor changes to the torso and foot. I also completed creating UVs in Maya, generated a rough texture for the model, and started working on the blendshapes that will be attached to the final mesh after the completion of the rig.
Week 7, 8, and 9 were mostly spent working and experimenting with different rig setups to give the users the ability to change the characters as much as possible. I wanted the users to be able to change the position, rotation, and proportion of the character by just using the joints, before moving to the blendshapes. I had to go through a lot of setups to get the type of functions that I wanted. After a lot of trials and errors, I am finally happy with what I have and will be moving on to finalizing the rig and attaching the blendshape by the end of Week 10. And the final product should be ready for testing by animators by mid-week of Week 11.
