I’m cutting down the majority of the script. - Visual novels are known for their lengthy narrative and given my background in English Lit and creative writing I thought it was the best option for me. But honestly, it’s hard for me to balance the artwork, animation, game mechanics, logic, and concepts as well as the script in my head. I’m dropping the novel-type script because I don’t think I’ll be able to finish it on time, and that’s what I’ve been procrastinating the most on.
I’m only leaving in the speech bubbles so as to not let the player be completely confused about the story. I was inspired by Night in the Woods that has most of its story progression through such speech bubbles.
Now that the extra layers are mostly cut down I have a clearer image of the progression of my game.

Collect the Memory Shards x3 Final Ending
Going for 3 separate endings was definitely a mistake on my part, but I’m not willing to cut those down because the very concept of a visual novel is making choices that lead to different outcomes.
I want to make the actual endings less cutscene like and more of a single image with the parallax effect telling the story in a metaphorical abstract way.
