Folio 2 plan

Intention:

My plan for folio 2 is improving the battle system I have developed in folio1. Following Max’s suggestion, I will firstly focus on explaining – How to make player understand what is happening in game. Then I will add a few new elements in the battle system such as item and skills. So that I could have a simple demo version of my game.

Field:

The main field in folio 2 should be “Guide”. It is important to let player simply understand the mechanics of game. Matt the author of Celeste has inspired me a lot on this field like how he guides player choosing the path he wants player to go without using words. I will also work on “Rogue lite” in the second part of my folio 2. As I showed in related works, Binding of Isaac is my first rogue game. I learnt so much from it.

Method:

Max always give me great ideas on developing. I think consultation with Max will helps very much on this folio. I will also learn some design concepts from watching GDC videos.

Production:

The first part of my folio is guiding. I will finish a simple version at the end of week 8. Then I will start to iterate my game by observing – Send the first version to my friends, observe their operations, find out problem which may cause they misunderstand, fixed the problem and send to other friends. This may cost me 2 weeks. Then I will build new UI and few items/skills in week 11 and week 12.
