1. RATIONALE: Intention

What concepts are you examining in your folio work? What do you want your Studio project to do?

During Studio 1 I will continue to develop my skills in 3D modeling and animation, having a minimalist approach towards the generation of animations or loops with simple geometric elements (spheres, pendulums, cyclical animations), with the aim of creating an animation of 2 or 3 minutes that allow the viewer to graphically visualize moods, with a connected and single narrative, being able to transmit a message beyond a simple and pleasant sensation; which is what the majority of references that I have studied during this time point to.

As key concepts, I would like to explore cyclical animations, element physics and narratives-forms of minimalist expression.

2. CONTEXT: Field

What field/s does you're your work sit within?

The fields in which this type of work is situated are those of 3D modeling, 3D animation, linear narratives, cyclical stories, loops, lighting study, realistic materials-texturing, geometry and trigonometry. For now, these are the fields that occur to me, but during the program I will be able to find out more opportunities to include this type of work.

Who are the outstanding practitioners/researchers/critics within this field/s?

Accounts such as @wannerstedt, @extraweg, @lucas_zanotto, @antonio3dee and @david_mcleod; are some prominent designers and/or modelers.

3. METHOD: Conceptual, Technical, Craft & Management

How will the work you do in the studio support your intention?

Working during Studio 1 will allow me to gain the skills required to achieve my ultimate goal. The fact of starting with a 3D modeling program, going through the study of animations will allow me to offer viewer-friendly, minimalist narratives. Additionally, the research work that I have developed during the course has enabled me to discover artists in whose productions I have found a range of possibilities in terms of design and composition, which are key references for the development of my current and subsequent creations. My research is based on the elaboration of narratives and stories through loops and 3D animations, which means that I will articulate different methods to provide pleasant, innovative experiences that generate different sensations such as suspense, sadness, bewilderment, restlessness, surprise, disgust, relaxation, among others. 

What do you hope to establish through an engagement with your folio work?

In all the references of loops that I have been able to study, it is common for them to seek to convey feelings of satisfaction or tranquillity. Therefore, my desire is focused on finding new ways in which these animations play with human experience and sensitivity. This means that I am going to bet on the creation of scenes, compositions, sounds and narratives that tell other stories; stories that could have unwanted, unexpected, surprising ends, among others.

4. PRODUCTION: Tools

How will you make this work, what is your process, when will you do what?

I want to focus my efforts on perfecting my Cinema 4D skills. In that order of ideas, for Folio 2, I hope to develop a project entirely as a linear story using advanced simulation and animation techniques. To this end, I intend to be part of clubs within the university that allow me to enhance my skills by articulating my knowledge together with what I can acquire from teachers and other colleagues. Also, I want to do an exhaustive search of the state of the art to make innovative productions; and I would like to know and master new tools and techniques that I can later apply.
