Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

For this week's work, I chose to follow the theme of sound reinterpretation in a minimalist three-dimensional space.

This topic came out thanks to last week's 30 minute animation challenge, which was about sound. In it, I used the sound of a falling tree to make its reinterpretation in an infinite space and with only one cylinder. The initial idea was to try to exactly replicate the physics of the tree. Thanks to the feedback, I found this interesting path that I would continue to deepen.

This is why in CPS class last week I decided to use the Forces theme as a perfect scenario to continue reinterpreting sounds with certain limitations, such as that all the objects on the screen must be made by simple 3D shapes. With the above I was able to make several examples and among them is a train coming towards the viewer. The only clue you have is that it's a train approaching in a tunnel, but strangely there are no rails. That's when the viewer begins to ask what is going to happen or what is really coming. In the end, I tried to play with people's expectations and show a train made up of simple figures, so for the most part it's not what people expect. That's also why in the final render the train goes up, without explanation.

Following the suggestions and feedback of Kate, I decided to simplify the objects that make the train and render them with the same translucent material that I have been working in the past weeks; this choice was also influenced by the fact that a simpler figure could be reinterpreted into other objects.
