This week I began to put all my tests from my first studio folio to practice and started modelling the first of my buildings, texturing in substance and importing into UE4. It was an extrodinarly painful week with many learning curves around 3D modelling which isn't my strength nor key area of focus and the dangers of UV maps not being mapped cleanly. I also ended up spending 4 days troubleshooting UE4 on my computer and trying to work out why it kept freezing my computer everytime I tried to do something - when all my tests through folio one worked smoothly. I soon realised I had accidently setup my new project to build my final scene to run through my external drive and not the computer directly which was ... a very large lightbulb moment and learning curve! Note to anyone reading this ... ALWAYS run off your computer! Once that problem had been resolved - UE4 was smooth sailing again and I was able to begin construction on my scene to reflect the art style of my game design concept manipulating and mashing up textures to create unique materials reflective of the story of Bones. I also needed to learn how to change the streaming pool for textures through the output log as the initial setup was quite limited.
