I want to use Studio One to flesh out an idea for an animation concept. Something that can be built into a pitch document for an animated TV show, but which could also become an animated short. Studio One would be used to brainstorm and conceptualise this so that in later studios in the MAGI course I can create the animated short. 

As of right now I don't have any specific people I can point to as being outstanding practitioners in the field of animated short films. I would be looking to film festivals and to the works of individuals as well as what is coming out of shorts programs at Frederator, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, etc. This Studio One project would allow me to investigate these further and look to uncover researchers or critical reviews of animated shorts. I want to uncover what knowledge already exists and is documented regarding the theory of creating an animated short. 

This will allow me to play and explore my ideas. Create rough concepts and iterate upon them. I want to get a better understanding of animated works and the characters and narratives that exist already. This will help me get a better idea of target demographics and how an animated short can be targeted towards an audience. I will also look into what options are avaliable to me in regards to getting an animated short shown. This way I can go into later studios with a goal of which festival and compilation deadlines I would need to hit with my animated short. 

At the end of Studio One I want to be able to say 'This is my short idea, and this is where I'm aiming to get it shown.'

The majority of the work will be produced through drawings and written documentation. Through using Photoshop and Indesign I can create a small bible as a stepping stone to start a animated short with. At this time I'm not imagining that it will be a solid piece of finished pre-production assets. Instead it will be a framework with characters, settings, narrative and art style concepts planned out and backed up by research into the field and scope of animated shorts produced by an individual.
