Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

Rational / Intention

  • To create a living urban scene that would include pedestrians, machinery, and traffic.

  • The scene will comprise of many systems which will control how NPCs, and cars will behave

  • The reason to create such a scene is to produce a believable world where citizens have supposed daily lives and car traffic which will stop for pedestrians

Context: Field

  • The field of practice would be immersive world design

  • As I want this scene and the systems to be immersive for a game, I have to ensure that the systems don’t revolve around the player but within the world

  • The city scene itself would be an Asian-influenced district referred to as “Little Asia”, the scene may include many Asian aspects such as street vendors, a night market, and Asian-styled vending machines.

  • The practitioners who are known to be in the field include the Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku series by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex by Production I.G, and Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.

Method

  • The work in the studio which will support my intention will include:

    • Pseudocode

    • Programming

    • 2D asset creation

    • Animation

Production: Tools

  • Week 1 - Car Traffic (Unity)

  • Week 2 - Advanced pedestrian behaviour (Unity)

  • Week 3 - Creation of Night Market (Aesprite or Piskel)

  • Week 4-5 - NPCs interacting with each other and the world (Unity)

  • Week 6 - Animations (Aesprite or Piskel and Unity)
