Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

1 Intent

Starting from the first week of exercises, I plan to focus on 2D animation for the first five weeks. I decide to do some simple frame-by-frame movement. I will practice drawing, splitting, character design. On the software side, I want to focus on AE and learn practical skills. I plan to do some motion graphics.

2 context: field

For my first five weeks of work, I wanted to focus on 2D animation. Because this is a practical skill that can be applied in multiple fields. For example, the team that I like very much, which made the episode 3 of love death robots and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, their scenes are purely hand-drawn, while the characters are modeled in 3D. The combination of 2D and 3D is also my longing.

My favorite animation director is Satoshi Kon. The film critic Scott from the New Yorktimes states(2010) that while the film work of Mr. Kon incorporated many common anime elements— pixie like female characters, delicate robots, futuristic cityscapes and nervous obsession with the imaginative and disruptive power of technology— it was also told far beyond contemporary Japanese popular culture by literary, artistic and cinematic traditions.I have watched his animated films many times, and I like the plot and editing very much. So I want to learn his storytelling skills. My favorite one is Perfect Blue, which is also his debut. This animated film, which is unlike most animated films suitable for all ages, is intended for adults. Thriller, suspense. He perfectly tells a case through the medium of animation. The plot is fascinating, and the editing is very own. When the final plot is announced, it will give me a sense of sudden realization.

3 method

I want to practice hand drawing, and then complete some storyboards, character settings. Then add AE by hand to achieve frame-by-frame animation.

4 production:tool

My main tools are After Effects and procreate. But I also want to learn Cinema 4D and Unity. Actually I am new to this major, so I am passionate about all directions. But the first five weeks I wanted to complete some basic work.
