Week 12
I’ve been focusing on rendering, sound editing, and compositing the animation in week 12.
I’ve taken in Kate’s feedback about the SFX of the water droplets into consideration and tried to match the animation with different sound effects made from animals. I’ve listened to the sound of a penguin, a cow, a peacock, the geese, and at the end settled on a chicken sound effect for the shot where the water droplet is urging the one before it to move. For other water droplets' sound effects in general, I used the bird chirp sound effects. I toned down most of the volume of the bird chirp sound effect because they are a bit high pitch in comparison to what I used before. I adjusted the atmospheric sound so that the atmospheric sound of the first scene is playing throughout the animation with different volumes. This is to create a further connection between each scene.
Rendering took a big part of my time in week 12 and the composition after that was not easy as well. I had to check the shot so that they are rendered out properly. Doing composition on a single image is slightly different than doing composition on a whole animation clip as I need to do further composition on some shots.
Besides working on post-production for the water droplet shots, I started and completed the short animation clip for the seaweed creature. It was fun to animate something different and in a totally unique setting. The creature is underwater, hence, the timing of jumping will be longer because of the buoyancy force. This shot will not be rendered because I don’t have that much time to work on the post-production of another piece.
In week 13, I’ll work on finalising the animation vignette ‘The Pond’, gathering all documents together, and submit my assignment!
