This week I researched into animal behaviours and tried to brainstorm unique behaviour/interaction for my own creations.
I took some time to watch through some documentaries and made notes of interesting behaviours. Animals are truly full of wonders so for each creature, I tried to design behaviour/interesting observations through its unique physical features. Can I accentuate them through animation? How can I showcase their personalities through animation? Can I introduce 'bigger' interactions (environmental alterations) with these behaviours?
An example of research application is the sun bird 'flying' animation is inspired by hippos. It's little known that hippos can't actually swim or 'float' due to their dense body. Instead, they 'float' through alterations to body posture and breathing techniques, 'swimming' is actually walking underwater. In my case, the sun bird can't actually 'fly'. They puff up like a pufferfish, and float into the sky like that of a balloon.
