Hi everyone, I’m Qi. I’ve made a 2D animation in Studio 1, a game in Studio 2, and a virtual environment walkthrough animation with a 2D and 3D animation setup in Studio 3. In this workshop, I want to go back to the 2D animation and learn more about the character’s movement.

Day 1- Plan for folio 1

Purpose: Study characters movement in 2D animation.

Outcome: A animation of the character which will be added to the last shot of my studio 3 animation. The character will be painted in a 3D looks instead of plane cel-shading looks to match the background. The last shot is introducing a series of camera movements such as zoom in, zoom out and rotation. So this animation will be focusing on the perspective changes of the character in the scene.

Vignettes 1:  A character is throwing a question mark kick.

Vignettes 2: The character is doing parkour or free-running across the buildings.

I hope I can do more animations as daily challenges.

Why: I haven’t really studied the movements of characters, so I wish to investigate in this part.

Methods: Producing frame-by-frame animations in Toon boom Harmony.
