In talking with Kate this week, I figured out that I am feeling a little stagnated only animating characters and that I wanted to explore more styles of animating. An example of this is the rubber hose style, which I did a little study of in class on Monday.
In this exercise, I decided to do a study of Hiraoka Masanobu's animation style. It is incredibly abstract, fluid, using mutation and growth to create morphing images.
What I focused on in this study was creating bubbling and swelling motion in the object's animation. I also tried to emphasise this using line shading in the creases to add to this idea of a growing, mutating organism, similarly to how Masanobu uses shading and linework in his animation.
