As I am still refining the ideas within my studio project, and deciding the best way to create a distorted environment, I was inspired by Gina Moore to focus on the idea of reducing the polygons within 3D models.
Theme: Character & Events
Method: I will distort 3D models to explore methods I can use in my Studio to create warped and confusing environments for my VR project
Context: Gina Moore - Cow Reduce Animation
The way Gina Moore has used the reduce tool to create interesting glitches is something I think will be useful to use in my own studio project
Production: Creating a simple couch model (a prop similar to something I will use in my studio project) I have tested different percentages of the reduce function in Maya to visualise the ways I can create distorted models. In doing so I believe I have used the idea of play to test and explore a type of 3D modelling that many would consider 'unethical' so to speak, because of the way I have broken the model and distorted the normals. By taking such an approach to 3D modelling (even though it goes against everything I have learnt) I want to use this style of model within one of the three areas of my virtual reality environment as it has the ability to visualise the lack of control the human body has over depression, helping to evoke emotions within the user to help them understand what it is like to experience poor mental health.
