Events

This series of play designs is to examine the possible applications of presenting image metamorphosis and transformation with hand-drawn linear animation. The final result will be a series of short animation that relates to a wild range of themes (e.g., Self-observation, tinkering, materiality, place, object, character and event, time, force, stillness) Each one is related to a part of my project practice. People can see the video of the methods in the order, which is connected to each other with the issue of image reconstruction, linear animation, and movement expressions.

Participation

To involve the practices into my project, the theme is defined and designed as the subjects that fit the animation practices in some ways.

For example, one of them is to construct impressive characters with 2D animation. The tests are made up to investigate the possibilities of character construction through 2D animation without any word. It is the same applying to other themes, every theme is a representation of a critical quality that is used on the 2D animation exploration.

Contribution

These 2D animations and visual effect practices is valuable for reflecting the ideas and conceptions to my project design. Since linear animation production requires various types of exercises with abstract thinking, it would be essential to explore the possible approaches with both physical and digital experiments. Also, it would be innovative if the animation of image transition can be merged with a kind of interaction with users, this function is also in the consideration when the series of play designs are created. The responses obtained from each practice become a part of the background knowledge and the experiences for research possible development. It will contribute to the new medium of presenting animation in the future.
