Theme Body
Context
This week's topic is play and body. I think about how we can use our body. Without the physical interaction, there is a lot of design for the future in talking about how humans interact with the non-existent item. Many of them are talking about the AR, naked eyes 3D and holographic projection etc. So I want to experience the future life a bit by using the post effects.
Method
Phone, fingers, Adobe Illustrator, After Effect
Record a video that looks like something is sticky on my finger
Use the After Effect to add the object to the video
Response
This video is about a virtual pet. The pet always stays in your sight. Users can interact with the pet by using the hand or any part of the body, which is just like playing with the actual pet. This is inspired by a game from Tencent, called QQ pet. Different from the QQ pet, humans can have various forms to present the digital content, which do not necessarily need to be a typical screen. We might have something like the virtual screen in Iron Man or a further development of google glasses.
Reflection
The most difficult part to make this experience video is doing the post effects. I make the animation frame by frame which is not effective. For some of the movement, the linear moving speed can not follow the movement of the finger. The solution for this is to allocate the position frame by frame to make sure the pet is following the finger movement. The better solution for this situation is to use a plugin to track the movement of fingers.
