Theme: Play & Object

Context: I would like to be playful so I’ve decided to select something as a homage to the COVID-19 toilet paper crisis. Regarding my background in Public Meme Service, criticising unjust happenings in the society using humour is up in my alley.

British graphic designer, the Man, the Legend, James Fridman is my hero in Photoshop troll area. Not only I adore his skill in Photoshop but also his hilarious ideas have never let me down. By taking ridiculous request via Twitter, somehow, he manages to expose some people’s hideous nature and produces an abundant amount of “master pieces”.

Aside from Fridman, there are some Photoshop troll groups on Facebook which could be very inspiring. Some of the trolls are surprisingly mean to the extreme and that is why it triples up the fun.

Method: Photoshop and patience

Response: I build up this image by using Photoshop and a load of PNG files found online. Since the toilet paper crisis is actually a sad, muddled and chaotic misfortune and should be taken seriously, the toilet paper rolls are now considered as precious as gold. Some people even use toilet paper rolls as their currency exchanging for goods and essentials in the time of Corona. This leads to my idea of making toilet paper rolls as holy as possible by utilizing the imagery of an angel ascending from Heaven.

It would not be entertaining enough if the final piece is too perfect therefore, I’ve duplicated the PNG of a man praising to the Holiness and distributed the copies to make it look like a crowd.

Reflection:

While working on this, I laughed more than I should have. Witnessing others cracking up upon seeing my final piece made me very content.
